Juan Alvarez De Lugo is a chartered civil engineer with around 13 years’ experience specialising in flood risk, stormwater, and climate resilience projects across New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from the University of Auckland.

Juan has worked across both the public and private sectors, helping decision-makers manage natural hazard risks to people, property, and infrastructure. Currently a Senior Associate Engineer, he has led complex technical projects for organizations like Auckland Council and Kāinga Ora. An immigrant who now calls New Zealand home, Juan brings an analytical, outcomes-focused approach to improving infrastructure systems and building a freer, more affordable country.
