About
Andrew Hoggard is a farmer, and champion for New Zealand’s rural sector.
Andrew grew up in Upper Hutt and studied Agricultural Economics at Massey University before moving to Manawatū in 1998 to manage a 186-hectare dairy farm, sharemilking 440 Holstein Friesians. He built hands-on expertise in dairy and sheep farming, pasture management, and large-scale food production.
A former National President of Federated Farmers, Andrew has long stood up for rural communities. He also represented New Zealand on the board of the International Dairy Federation, giving him deep expertise in farming systems and a strong understanding of why rural policy matters.
Earlier in his career, he made his mark as a finalist in the Young Farmer of the Year and won the Taranaki–Manawatū title in 2003.
Andrew joined ACT in 2019 and entered Parliament in 2023 as a list MP and the party’s candidate for Rangitīkei. He’s focused on strong biosecurity, world-class animal welfare, and a thriving, sustainable food system. Whether in the milking shed or in Parliament, he brings the same no-nonsense, practical mindset to getting things done.
