Epsom MP David Seymour is welcoming the announcement that Aucklanders will now be genuinely consulted on Auckland Council’s new zoning plan.

ACT understands the University of Auckland Senate has voted to recommend that the controversial Waipapa Taumata Rau (WTR) course be made optional, following widespread dissatisfaction.

ACT Local has today released its free speech policy for candidates in this year’s local body elections, setting out a clear commitment to defending freedom of expression in local government.

ACT is campaigning to stop unelected appointees from holding voting rights on local council committees.

“Today, voting papers begin to arrive for the local body elections – and, crucially, voters finally have the chance to ditch divisive Māori wards,” says ACT Leader David Seymour.
