Poll shows new ACT talent can strengthen the Coalition

“A new Curia poll, commissioned by the Taxpayer’s Union, shows ACT on 10.5 per cent and three talented New Zealanders a stone’s throw from bringing fresh experience to Parliament, and ensuring a larger ACT influence in the next coalition Government,” says ACT Leader David Seymour.

“With New Zealand’s voting system it isn't simply about which party gets the most seats. Its about which coalition has the numbers to form a Government.

“This poll has the election on a knife edge between right and left, with every single party vote counting.

“ACT has never formed a coalition with Labour and never will. Every Party Vote for ACT strengthens a re-elected centre-right coalition and gives ACT greater influence over its direction.

“Today’s poll highlights some of the ACT candidates whose positions on our party list put them within reach of Parliament.

“At number 13, Antonia Modkova would get in on this poll. She is an intellectual property lawyer and computer scientist who specialises in artificial intelligence. Let’s be honest, no one in Parliament has a clue about AI, how good would it be to have an MP who genuinely knows the risks and opportunities associated with it?

“At number 14, Alex Price is within a hair’s breadth of Parliament. He is the CEO of Fertility Associates, with more than 20 years of experience leading and growing healthcare businesses in New Zealand and Asia. New Zealand is not insulated from the issue of declining fertility rates, how good would it be for Parliament to have a global expert providing their insights?

“At number 15, Janelle Hocking is a small business owner who runs a Four Square in one of the most isolated parts of the country. Who better to understand supply chains and the pressures facing regional businesses and the communities that depend on them? If you need any further convincing of why she’d be a great MP, just watch this clip of her teaching Economics 101 to other West Coast candidates.

“I could go on. ACT has so much talent we can bring to Parliament to make the coalition stronger. That is why I’m encouraging people to Party Vote ACT to re-elect the coalition and make it go further and faster on the issues that matter.”
