ACT delivers: offshore oil and gas is back

“The first new offshore petroleum exploration permit since Labour’s ban was reversed is proof ACT is delivering in Government,” says ACT Energy and Resources spokesperson Simon Court.

“Labour and the Greens shut the door on exploration and told investors to take their money elsewhere. They created years of uncertainty and drove away companies willing to explore for new gas just as our existing fields were running down.

“ACT secured the repeal of that destructive ban in our coalition agreement with National. Today, the door is open again and investors are returning.

“This is how we unlock New Zealand’s potential: welcome investment, develop our resources, and secure the energy needed to keep homes warm and factories running. To keep New Zealand open for business, we need to lock Labour out.”
