ACT commits to strengthening end-of-life choice

ACT will continue championing New Zealanders' right to make their own healthcare decisions by supporting the End of Life Choice Amendment Bill and introducing an Advance Directives Bill in the next term of Parliament, says ACT Health spokesperson Todd Stephenson.

"ACT believes competent adults should be trusted to make deeply personal decisions about their own lives. We will keep the End of Life Choice Amendment Bill on Parliament's agenda and continue building support for sensible changes that strengthen New Zealanders' choices at the end of life.

"We will also introduce an Advance Directives Bill to provide legal clarity so New Zealanders can have confidence their healthcare wishes will be respected if they are ever unable to communicate them. Giving people greater certainty over their own end-of-life care is a practical, compassionate reform that puts patients first."
