“Landlords have been scapegoated and blamed by Labour for the housing crisis when the real cause is a lack of housing supply”, says ACT leader David Seymour.

“Housing is still in crisis and Labour and National are equally responsible, it’s time to stop demand-side policies that aren’t working and set a target for supply,” says ACT Leader David Seymour.

“To really solve the emergency housing crisis, the next Government needs to do more than change who builds the houses for the Government. Labour says Kainga Ora should build for the Government, National says private providers should build homes for the Government, ACT says National's plan is better but doesn’t even touch the real issue,” according to ACT Deputy Leader and Housing spokesperson Brooke van Velden.

“Kainga Ora is spending quarter of a million dollars of taxpayer money every month to lease an apartment building, only to leave half the flats completely unfilled. They’re burning taxpayer money without even doing their job,” says ACT Deputy Leader and Housing Spokesperson Brooke van Velden.

“The Human Rights Commission is nothing but a Wellington managerial-class quango desperately trying and failing to justify the funding it receives from taxpayers. It’s time for it be abolished,” says ACT Leader David Seymour.

“Labour’s economic mismanagement and attacks on landlords are hurting renters, the very people Labour claims to care about,” says ACT’s Deputy Leader and Housing spokesperson Brooke van Velden. “It’s a classic case of unintended consequences and it’s caused by Labour’s woeful economic ignorance.”
