Epsom MP David Seymour has welcomed news that work on a new Erebus National Memorial is underway, with designers and family members of the victims being asked to contribute ideas to the project.

“Many of the victims’ families live in the Epsom Electorate. They will be delighted that concrete steps are now being taken to honour the 257 victims who died in the 1979 Erebus tragedy.

“The Government’s commitment to a national memorial is a very positive outcome and will help bring some closure to what has been a fraught part of New Zealand’s history.”
