ACT MP Andrew Hoggard says resource consent rollovers announced today shows how ACT listens to farmers, and delivers a badly needed circuit breaker for farms threatened by ideological regional councils.

Today is a turning point after three decades of Resource Management Act frustration. The new laws fix what matters in New Zealand with a property rights approach to planning and the environment. Enabling the use of property opens up opportunity for more affordable housing and better paying jobs connected together by more infrastructure.

ACT Leader David Seymour is celebrating the opening of IKEA, but says if we want to see other franchises come to New Zealand, historic land use reform cannot come fast enough.

“More than 11,000 residents, would-be residents, former residents, and village operators have participated in this review, and have been waiting many months for its completion, so it’s good to finally see the next step in the process," says ACT Housing spokesman Cameron Luxton.

The build out of the mobile phone network is one thing that’s gone right in the last thirty years.
