Malcolm Taylor
Councillor for Marlborough Sounds Ward
Marlborough District Council
About
Malcolm is a Marlborough Sounds local with nearly five decades of experience in New Zealand’s electricity sector. From 1972 to 2020, he worked primarily in operations and control, developing deep expertise in hydrology and climate along the way.
Beyond his professional life, Malcolm is a passionate motorcyclist known for his long-distance endurance rides, an experienced pilot of both powered and glider aircraft, and, more recently, a keen yachtsman who enjoys exploring the Sounds.
His commitment to community service began with Jaycees and continued through many years with the Lions Club in Alexandra.
With a lifetime of technical knowledge and a practical, service-driven mindset, Malcolm is standing to bring real-world experience, local insight, and common sense back into council decision-making.
“I stood to help prioritise council spending and keep rate rises in line with inflation. Ratepayers deserve a council that gets the basics right and spends wisely.”
