ACT for Real Change

David grew up in Whangarei with two younger brothers, where his parents were a pharmacist and a draughtsman. As a teenager, he moved to Auckland for high school before graduating from the University of Auckland in electrical engineering and philosophy.

Before politics, David worked as an electrical engineer in New Zealand and for private sector think tanks in Canada. He has served as ACT Leader and MP for Epsom since 2014. In Government, he was responsible for Regulatory Reform and charter schools. From opposition, he passed the End-of-Life Choice Act.

Fearless and principled, he is known for standing up for his constituents and, if necessary, to every other party. He has been named MP of the year twice, and ‘the only one talking sense’ too many times to count.

Brooke left the private sector to work behind the scenes in Parliament to help pass the End-of-Life Choice Act. She is a highly effective operator who knows how to deliver real positive change in the corridors of power.

Brooke is qualified in international trade and economics and has been a factory worker and corporate affairs consultant.

Her practical and political experience has given her a deep understanding of the economy and the effect big government policies and rushed laws have on businesses and individuals.

She switched from being a Green voter to an Act supporter while studying economics at university. The ability for free markets to lift countries from hardship was a revelation for her.

She is also a committed social liberal, championing the right to autonomy over our own bodies.

Brooke grew up in Auckland with three older brothers, where her parents were small business owners.

Nicole is a mother of four, has a background in law, and is passionate about firearms reform and freedom of speech.

Before entering politics, Nicole ran her own business providing firearms safety training, and is a four-time New Zealand shooting champion.

Nicole was the coordinator of the nation’s volunteer firearms safety instructors for the Mountain Safety Council and the spokesperson for the Council of Licenced Firearms Owners (COLFO) and its Fair and Reasonable Campaign.

In the wake of our nation’s tragedy in Christchurch, Nicole provided the calm and intelligent voice of reason on firearms law. So much so, she was awarded Communicator of the Year 2020.

I was born in Lumsden and lived in various rural communities across Southland before my family moved to Invercargill. I have been a member of ACT since its formation, campaigned for the party in 1996, 1999, 2002 and 2005, and was employed by the party from 1997 to 2000. I have worked for multinational healthcare companies overseas, including my current role as an International Patient Engagement Director. In my career, I have gained experience in leadership and strategy, public affairs, government relations, public policy, and stakeholder engagement. I volunteer with patient organisations and enjoy hiking and travelling.

I strongly support ACT's vision and policies for a better New Zealand. I have a good understanding of the workings and processes of the New Zealand Parliament and have maintained my interest in politics while living overseas, supporting issues, candidates, and political parties that align with my classical liberal views. I can bring my dedication and motivation to the ACT team to support the improvement of New Zealand for current and future generations.

Originally from a farm just north of Upper Hutt, I went to school locally, then attended Massey University doing a Bachelor of Applied Economics, My family shifted to our current family farm in 1998 where I sharemilked, and now with my Wife and Daughters we have just over 500 cows. I am the past National President of Federated Farmers Of New Zealand, as well as being a Board Member of the International Dairy Federation. Once upon a time I was also slightly handy in the front row for club rugby, these days I just prefer to cheer my daughters on at their sports.

I'm standing for the ACT party because I believe my knowledge and experience in the rural policy arena can help turn back a number of the poorly thought through regulations and red tape that currently wrap farmers up. But most importantly I am really alarmed at the state New Zealand is in and I want to be part of the team that helps to fix this. We need government focusing on the core issues only it can focus on. We have to bring wasteful govt spending back under control. I want my daughters to see a bright future in New Zealand.

Nearly every MP says they want to reform CYFPs/CYFs/Oranga Tamariki. Karen lived it and came to Parliament to make a better world for children. Her own story of overcoming adversity to have a loved family of her own and a successful business is the embodiment of ACT values. She changed her future.

Karen has been self-employed in the New Zealand made clothing industry. She is a mother of four and has lived on Auckland's North Shore for the past 30-years.

She strongly believes that, with the right tools, anyone in this country can make something of themselves. She believes that we have spent way too long trying to make a broken system work.

Mark is the authentic voice of rural New Zealand.

Mark is a dairy farmer from Ruawai, Northland. He's lived and farmed around the Northland region for 30-years. He has a partner, and three children.

He’s seen the calamity of rural mental health and understands what MPI inspectors coming on to your land means in practical terms. No party in recent times has had a professional farmer who actually milks cows every morning enter Parliament. While his family manages the farm, Mark speaks for all those who do.

In my Portfolios I have heard concerns about Three Waters, RMA reforms, co-governance, and wasted spending on unwanted transport projects when roads are falling apart.

By raising these issues in Parliament and through the media, I helped to influence the Labour Government to drop some bad policy and projects. There is still much to be done.

I developed ACTs Building NZ and Conserving Nature policy to replace the RMA with law based on property rights, and practical solutions to fund and deliver infrastructure. I am highly motivated to translate that policy into action with ACT in a future Government.

I immigrated to New Zealand from India in 1995 and continued my education by doing a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Auckland. I worked as a scientist, businesswoman, broadcaster and community advocate before becoming the first Indian born woman to be a Member of Parliament during the 2014 General Election. I also served as the Chair of an NGO helping victims of domestic violence, a Community Representative on the Film and Video Labelling Body and as a Families Commissioner. I am currently working as the Technical Director for Kiwi Empire Confectionery Limited, a Director of Core Ceuticals Pacific Limited and a Board Member of Totara Hospice. I live in Auckland with my husband and our two sons.

I have always been an admirer of ACT as a principled party. While serving as a Member of Parliament, I was able to play a major part in giving back. I believe there is more that I can offer. I have always taken an evidence-based and pro-innovation approach to policy. I believe ACT is the only political party to take this approach. I look forward to campaigning hard for ACT to help our team achieve a great result in the election.

Proudly born and raised in Christchurch, I have held roles on boards, owned a small business, and been a coach and a manager. I began my career in pharmacy before pivoting to work for the past 10-15 years as a registered evacuation consultant. During this time, my family and I built a market-leading business. I am proud of the relationships I’ve established with clients, Fire and Emergency, and councils. In my spare time, you’ll find me on the side-line cheering on my 2 kids at sport, renovating our 1910s villa, reading, frequenting a local café or exploring New Zealand’s backyard.

New Zealand needs people to stand up and restore the freedoms and rights that have been eroded by the current government. ACT offers logical, researched-based solutions. I have witnessed first-hand the effects of over-regulation on businesses at an extraordinary expense, with little to no benefit. As a libertarian, I believe that less government interference in our lives would enable New Zealand to innovate and flourish. I have a niche for solving problems and thrive on new challenges. I have a background in blue-collar work, construction, farming, and sports. I am passionate about my family and my country and believe that every New Zealander deserves to live a prosperous life. I am also a skilled tradesman and currently own a building business.

My adventurous parents and I moved from Bulgaria to Auckland in the early '90s. After studying law and computer science and qualifying as a patent attorney, I've spent the last ten years protecting Kiwi ingenuity around the world. As a “side hustle”, I co-founded an edu-tech startup automating private math tutoring, and I'm presently helping grow a family solar business to make NZ a bit greener. My husband and I have a two-year-old daughter and another baby on the way! For fun (when I'm not expecting...) I enjoy aerial silks and hoops, rock climbing, snow sports, and target pistol shooting.

I want to join ACT’s mission to foster free enterprise and innovation to empower aspiring New Zealanders to transform their visions into reality: so that my daughter can have even better opportunities than what my parents offered me by moving to New Zealand.

I was born and raised in New Delhi, India. Since 2004, my family and I have owned liquor retail businesses around the Waikato region. I have been working at our Huntly store since 2004. In 2017 I started an e-commerce business Eight PM, complemented by my keen interest in premium spirits - particularly whisky. I have travelled the world in the name of whisky and hosted whisky tastings all around New Zealand. My amazing wife and I have been married for 15 years and we have two primary school-aged children.

It pains me to say ‘Hamilton is the crime capital of New Zealand’, but unfortunately the city that has given my family so much is struggling, while the current government is endlessly pursuing therapeutic court systems. It has been a tiring journey raising issues around law and order that are impacting the lives of Kiwis under the current government. I want to be an authentic voice for hard-working small business owners in Parliament and help deliver the Real Change our country needs.

Toni resides in Christchurch East with her husband. Together they have run their own business which operates in Christchurch and Wellington. Before this, Toni was a Qualified Lab Technician at Christchurch District Health Board for 14-years.

Toni is a licensed firearms owner, she understands the impact the gun law reforms have had on law-abiding citizens in New Zealand, which the Government implemented last year.

She holds strong values of self-responsibility, less government interference, freedom of choice. She lived through the devastating Canterbury earthquakes as the community came together to rebuild businesses and homes.

I was raised and live in Christchurch and have a 4-month-old daughter. I joined the Army as an Officer at 20 years old and have deployed on multiple operations. I am privileged to have worked alongside various partners and New Zealand’s finest. Being exposed to numerous cultures and life experiences has fostered my personal and professional development. I’m a gym-goer, intrepid traveller, scuba diver, and enjoy history, politics, and socialising with friends and family. I hold a BA in Politics and History, PGDip in International Security and Intelligence, and am currently completing a Master's degree in Emergency Management.

New Zealand needs people with skillsets who understand the bigger picture and are motivated to serve all New Zealanders. ACT is anchored by logical libertarian principles and understands New Zealand’s prosperity is achieved through sound domestic policy, regional security and peace. I grew up on a sheep and beef farm in Hawkes Bay and now live in Havelock North. I am currently an ACT councillor and a former board member. Additionally, I am a small business owner, registered Valuer and property developer. I have been fortunate to grow up in a family deeply engaged in political discussions, with three prior generations who have proudly served as members of the New Zealand Parliament. Hello, my name is Chris Baillie and I am currently an ACT MP living in Nelson.

The House of Representatives should reflect all New Zealand society and they should work for the people.

I was a secondary school teacher for 22 years (even a member of the PPTA!) and I am passionate about improving all aspects of our education system.

It’s in a mess and our kids are suffering.

In my 14 years as a Police Officer I saw the good, bad and ugly side of New Zealand.

Crime is out of control and the country needs someone with experience to lead it out of the lawlessness we are seeing every day.

As a small business owner I know first-hand how difficult the last five years have been for employers.

The constant attacks on business must stop and confidence in hard-working employers restored.

I relish the opportunity to bring my experience to the table.

My parents migrated from China to New Zealand in the 1950s. Born in Balclutha and raised in Levin, I graduated with an LLB/BCom from Victoria University in 1992. I worked as a chartered accountant in Oxford and London, before returning to New Zealand in 2006. My side hustle of instructing Taekwon-Do instruction took precedence over my corporate life, and in 2013 I opened the Martial Arts Academy. I was appointed as a New Zealand Team Coach and as a High-Performance Director for the International Taekwon-Do Foundation of New Zealand.

We need to change direction before it is too late. Our status as a first-world nation is at risk. Instead of red tape, high taxes, and wasteful government spending, we need policies that reward hard work and increase productivity. Instead of cuddling up to criminals, we need to give the police a clear mandate to protect us. Instead of feel-good announcements, we need well-researched policies that work. Instead of co-governance in everything we need equality and fairness for all New Zealanders. Many talk a good talk; I am standing for ACT because I believe in walking the walk.

Rangitikei-born and Manawatu-raised, I currently live at Lake Taupo with my husband John, my partner of 30 years. As a returned serviceman and a qualified chef, I worked across three continents before launching the first of my successful food enterprises here at age 26. I then formed a leading national real estate office in 2009. Over 30 years of self-employment, I have won multiple local and national awards. I'm a gym-goer, avid swimmer and kids coach, intrepid traveller, a valuer of time with family and friends, a Kākāriki breeder, history and politics reader, Wikipedia blogger, learner of Italian and a baker of food.

ACT has proven itself to be the party of reason, possessing a strong questioning ethic and a clear vision for the future. My key drivers are to help bring our nation together again, helping craft a vibrant future for all New Zealanders. I seek to encourage entrepreneurship, support Kiwi businesses and place a primary focus on raising our defence capabilities, instilling pride in our forces and stepping up to our geo-political responsibilities.

I was raised, schooled and educated in Auckland. I have dedicated my professional life to the practice of law and have established a successful career as a lawyer in my community. I firmly believe that both of the major political parties, namely Labour and National, have lost touch with their constituents. Due to poor national management and a real lack of opposition, New Zealand is now on the verge of major social, economic and political upheaval. As a business owner, I feel completely let down by the Government. A political change needs to happen, and that change is in the form of the ACT Party. I want to play a part in this momentous change and forge a new path for the ordinary New Zealander.

I grew up in West Auckland with three sisters, became Head Girl of Massey High and volunteered for Women’s Refuge. Starting with poultry farming from age seven, I have held roles in a range of industries, including horticulture, mining, management and board positions. I have owned small businesses and have spent more than two decades working in science and innovation, with an emphasis on the primary sector. Additionally, I hold a Master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Equally comfortable operating heavy machinery or in a boardroom, I unwind on multi-day tramps with my husband and children.

New Zealand needs people with real and relevant experience, who are motivated to do what’s best for all New Zealanders.  ACT is built on sound principles and is the only party with the backbone needed to get this country firing again and I have the reputation, skills and drive to help with this mission. Born in Taiwan, I grew up in a culture of personal responsibility and respect for my family and community. As part of an international exchange, I attended Victoria University to study Economics where I met my husband. I immigrated to New Zealand in 2000, and have 20 years of professional experience in international trade, law, construction, immigration and health. I speak multiple languages and have an active interest in real estate and construction. As a volunteer, I help out at Interpreting NZ and the Wellington SPCA.

I am standing as an ACT candidate to affect change - we can no longer live with the political status quo. Our government needs to efficiently and effectively deliver essential services. Policies should emphasize personal responsibility, celebrate personal freedom and create an environment for private enterprises to thrive.

I was born and raised in Howick, attended Cockle Bay Primary, then St Peter's College in Epsom. I Graduated from Auckland University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science. I am currently living in Flatbush with my wife, where we have raised our 3 children. My working life has included horticulture, retail, the liquor trade and various roles in transport and logistics. I enjoy working, it is good for the soul. My 3-decade journey in target-shooting is a fantastic mental and physical discipline, that has included representing New Zealand.

I believe free speech and private property rights build the fundamental bedrock for a free and prosperous society. Our nation needs to focus on tax and welfare reform, in equal measure, to release the handbrake on our economy. We must reject mediocrity and aim for excellence. Well-researched and evidence-based public policy should provide the framework for individuals to construct and manage their own futures. Kiwis deserve a better deal. We need to make hard decisions and brave choices to effect real change.

I am a long-standing campaigner and volunteer for ACT, serving in two elections before joining the ACT team in Parliament full-time. I have been the primary organiser of ACTs tours and tradeshows over the past few years, including Fieldays and Sika Show. I am also currently a small business owner in the recycling sector, focused on e-waste, battery recycling, scrap metal and damaged vehicles.

Born in 1998 to two parents who worked in healthcare, I have always had a strong sense of community. Growing up, I worked several jobs - loading dirt into people’s cars, gardening, flipping burgers, and sitting at reception desks. Having graduated from the University of Auckland with a BA/LLB, I now work as a law clerk. When I’m not studying, you can find me at the gym or swimming. When I get the chance, I love to cook lots of food for my friends. I first became involved with the ACT Party at university after seeing principles such as free speech, and freedom of association come under attack.

Over the years, I have watched my generation be promised by politicians everything from affordable housing to safe streets. But years later, nothing has been delivered. I am standing because I want New Zealand to be a place where young, ambitious people want to live and work.

I am the Outreach Project Manager for David Seymour MP and ACT. I have over a decade of experience working as a Parliamentary Project Manager, specialising in policy research, communications, and outreach. In addition, I serve as a Board Member with the Life Cycle Association of New Zealand, Carbon and Energy Professionals and the Department of Conservation. These roles, combined with my position as a Justice of the Peace, allow me to contribute to science and evidence-based policymaking. I reside in Auckland with my wife and three-year-old daughter.

I am proud to say I grew up and did my schooling in Whakatāne - I am passionate about the East Coast area. I worked at the Whakatāne District Court for 5 years before heading overseas. I am a chartered accountant and successful business owner within the hospitality technology space. My family and I returned to New Zealand in 2021. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, SUP boarding and mountain biking. I regularly volunteer to restore the dunes into natives along the EBOP coast, and I give my time to mentor and develop other chartered accountants and small business owners in strategic planning.

After returning to New Zealand with my wife and two beautiful daughters from the US, I quickly became disillusioned with the direction New Zealand was going in. It is broken; with out-of-control crime, a cost-of-living crisis, and a divided nation. This is not the Island paradise that I had once known. My vast overseas experience lends itself to helping fix the serious issues the country faces. I am not a career politician, but a person with real-world practical multicultural business experience running companies and making real change happen.

I’m 22 years old, Auckland born and raised in Whangārei. I’m a former physics student at the University of Auckland, and have experience working on Northland’s data and fibre optic network, as well as manufacturing blinds in Penrose. I’m the current President of Young ACT and work full-time with ACT as the Information Systems Manager. This has put me in a unique position of experiencing the issues facing students, tradies and workers of my generation and I am passionate about making a difference.

It shouldn’t be a big ask to want to be proud of our country, but here we are. I’ve seen more and more of my friends look overseas for a better future, and I’d be lying if I hadn’t too. The grim reality is we’ve been losing our best and brightest for years. We need real change, now. I’m standing for ACT because I believe we can achieve a fairer tax system, and a free society, and secure a brighter future for my generation.

I am a dual New Zealand-Australian citizen with over 25 years of professional experience as a senior executive in Australasia, spanning various industries, including infrastructure and construction, government agencies, particularly in trade and industry, and investment management. I am a liberal democrat and approach problems pragmatically, always valuing constructive dialogue. On the side, I’m interested in ocean sailing, ocean swimming, reading and wetland restoration.

The easy alignment of my values with the ethos of ACT strongly drew me to the party. In our current level of political dysfunction, ACT offers a sound course with logic and discernment. As an innovator focused on delivering valuable outcomes and with a track record of successfully managing projects, building high-performance teams and fostering strong communities, I am capable of serving the New Zealand community through ACT.

I am an Auckland-born Chinese and father to a 14-year-old son. I am a semi-retired caterer - on our largest day, we fed 7,500 people. Based at Eden Park for 20 years, we became recognized as the best Sports Stadium in the world for Test Cricket food. I follow many sports, and being diabetic, I am keen on physical & mental well-being, as well as keeping abreast of global politics.

I am running for ACT because I believe we need real change. We need to stop wasteful spending, clamp down on crime, and restore lawful order. We also need to address the generational issues that are holding us back, such as low education standards and obesity. We need to empower parents to take responsibility for their children, and we need to create an environment where people can succeed through hard work and determination. I am committed to fighting for a better future for New Zealand.
