It’s been a short week due to our national holiday availing me of a gorgeous day out fishing, boating and swimming, so I ask for your understanding for the brevity of this week’s Ad Lib, but there’s some great links in here for a light-hearted end to your week.
BIG GAY OUT
You can add as many letters as you like to the LGBTI+ acronym to try to cover all bases, but ACT supports the rights of all individuals to be whoever they want to be, equal before the law. We will have a stand at the Big Gay Out this Sunday, so come and see us if you’re in the area at Coyle Park, Point Chevalier.
‘COMING OUT’ IN 2019
“I’m right-wing! I like the free market, I like individual rights, I like personal freedom.” Watch this video, you’ll enjoy it.
EMPATHY IS NOT THE SOLE DOMAIN OF THE LEFT
The left would like to have everyone believe that only socialists care. Not true, we’re all ACT supporters because we do care – very much so! – that everyone be given an equal opportunity in life, no matter their financial circumstances, nor the family circumstances into which they are born. A limited government that provides access to a choice of education and health providers, and welfare for those who really need it, funded by taxes, is justified by David in this interview.

How’s this government performing in lifting the appalling statistics of those areas they profess to care so deeply about? Matthew Hooton on the shaky marriage that is Labour and NZ First (read and listen to the full interview with Mike Hosking here):
“There is no obvious progress on health, education, poverty, homelessness or mental health.”
Scrapping the Partnership School model, must surely be the single most damaging thing this government has done for the future prospects of our least advantaged children, and their families. Next step, take further choice away from parent trustees in how their school should be run. Have they been taking advice from Humphrey in Yes Minister?
