ACT Leader Apologises To Prime Minister
"I would like to apologise to the Prime Minister and my Cabinet colleagues for the comments reported in the media from a breakfast function in Christchurch. This was light-hearted banter at an ACT party function and taken out of context", Mr Hide said.
"It is no secret that the ACT Party wants National to move faster and further on a number of policy issues. That is just the reality of different political positions.
"The National Party clearly has substantial political support, and strong mandate from New Zealanders for what is a wide-ranging and active programme of reform under way, much of it dealing with the problems it has inherited from the previous administration.
"I have the highest respect for the Prime Minister, and I enjoy an excellent working relationship with him and his cabinet colleagues. I spoke with the Prime Minister shortly after hearing that my comments were to be reported, and apologised to him for that."
Rodney, As a voter who gave
Rodney,
As a voter who gave my Party vote to ACT in the last elections, I am very disappointed in your behaviour re taking your girlfriend to her brothers wedding on a taxpayer funded jaunt.... especially given the economically hard time numerous Kiwi's are facing.
I think this is something else you need to apologize for as given your perk buster reputation what you did seems rather hypocritical!

I am a member of the Epsom
I am a member of the Epsom electorate you serve in Parliament. In fact I voted for you in last years election.
I would like to express my concern over your actions in using parliamentary perks to pay for your girlfriends trip around the world and also the holiday to Hawaii. You have only been in office for just over a year and have already shown poor judgment in political decisions that have negatively impacted on your reputation and the reputation of the ACT party in general. You argue that you do not want to be a martyr, yet you campaigned under the slogan "the guts to do whats right" two rather contradictory statements.
Polling figures show that ACT is in parliament because of our electorate voting smartly, in giving our MP vote to you and party vote to national in order to ensure a National led government. A point of view that I encourage you to keep in mind when dismissing the national government and its leader, John Key.
In the next election I will endeavor to give both my votes to National as I have lost confidence in your leadership of the ACT party and your own moral principals. I will also encourage my family and friends (who I persuaded to give you our MP vote in last years election) to follow my lead.
