ACT Congratulates Labour Leadership

Posted on 11 Nov 2008

ACT Leader Rodney Hide today congratulated the Hon Phil Goff on his appointment as Leader of the Labour Party, and the Hon Annette King as Deputy Leader.

"I would also like to recognise the extraordinary service that the Rt Hon Helen Clark and the Hon Dr Michael Cullen provided to the Labour Party and New Zealand," Mr Hide said.

"As Prime Minister, Helen Clark showed unfailing commitment to New Zealand and its people.

"Phil Goff and Annette King are politicians who clearly have the qualities required to lead the Labour Party. They are well respected, and we look forward to working with them for the good of our country.

"We don’t always agree, but I know Phil Goff and Annette King put their country first," Mr Hide said.

Nice to see supporters of

Nice to see supporters of Sir Roger Douglas leading the Labour Party.
Shame about the leaders of National!

It is sad when we at last do

It is sad when we at last do well in the polls, that we have nothing worthwhile to show for our effort. If Dunne or the Maori Party get ministerial positions, we're just wasteing everybody's time being in coalition with them.

Hello James ... I agree with

Hello James ... I agree with you.. lets hope our efforts are not level pegged in Dunne and the Maori Party. Otherwise I will rethink my position.. Bill ACT TKC

We can be happy Bill with

We can be happy Bill with getting 5 M.P. and I sincerely congratulate each. My fear is a tactical one. If we are not very careful, we will have 5 people able to achieve nothing thanks to John Key. The result of such a senario would I believe be that in 2011 voters will say " why vote for Act, they weren't able to achieve anything last time? " Clearly, we are the junior partner and can't expect to have all our wish list granted, however unless we can both differentiate ourselves fron the Nats and show voters something concrete we have achieved, we'll be history.
